City College of New York Housing and Nearby Apartments

If you're looking for City College of NY housing, the good news is that there are plenty of options for both undergraduate and graduate students, whether you're in the Honors College, the Spitzer School of Architecture, the Grove School of Engineering, the School of Education, or in studying in any of the more than 150 programs currently offered through NYC's oldest, most established, and most esteemed public university. Housing for City College of New York students is offered on campus, in the CCNY Towers, to a limited number of students each year. This is a terrific choice for those students fortunate enough to get one of the coveted slots in the contemporary, ten-story building. But even if you can't or would prefer not to live the CCNY Towers, there are hundreds of (often no fee) rental apartments available at any given time in the area around campus. The historic City College of New York grounds are comprised of both gorgeous old neo-Gothic buildings, many of them landmarked, as well a striking collection of contemporary structure built with the last decade. The CCNY campus is located in northern Harlem, just south of Washington Heights, on a beautiful, 35-acre hilly plot of land overlooking the Harlem Valley. As mentioned, on campus housing is limited to the gleaming new CCNY Towers, where 589 residents share 164 fully-furnished, air-conditioned suites in a variety of configurations, all with a common kitchen area. Space at CCNY Towers, needless to say, quite limited, given that there are more than 16,000 students enrolled every year at the university!

CCNY Off Campus Housing

For the vast majority of CCNY students seeking housing, off-campus is the only way to go. There are plenty of affordable rental apartments on the market in the immediate and nearby communities: basically, Harlem, Manhattanville and Hamilton Heights and, a little farther north and south, Washington Heights, Inwood and the Morningside Heights/Manhattan Valley area, respectively. Of course, any neighborhood with access to the 1, 2, 3, A, B, C trains, stations of which flank the CCNY campus, can be considered within easy reach of the school, which puts parts of the Bronx in play here as well. CCNY offers its students access to the real estate listings at their housing office, but you can also find lots of reasonably-priced no fee rental apartments in pretty buildings, on safe, convenient blocks, on websites such as right here on Urban Edge Scroll down to view apartments near City College of New York (CCNY).
