Living In: West Caldwell

Share Info About West Caldwell
Situated in the northeastern portion of Essex County, West Caldwell is about 16 miles west of Manhattan. The majority of this town is residential, with a highly suburban feel and single-family homes. But don't rule out West Caldwell because of the homes, as several NJ apartment complexes exist around the area. West Caldwell's calm, suburban feel is reflected by its historically safe record. This town exhibits consistently low violent crime, and has only experienced two murders ever. Just as the name states, the town is west of Caldwell, New Jersey, and is located just east of West Essex Park. Along with other splashes of greenspace, this large park offers a golf driving range, miniature golf, fishing areas, boating landings, and walking trails. If you live with kids, or just want to escape the brutal summer heat, West Caldwell offers two public town pools to cool off and have fun. Taking public transportation into Manhattan means taking the NJ Transit express buses into Midtown's Port Authority Bus Terminal. For those who prefer to drive, Highway 280 runs near the southern end of town, providing a rather straight path eastward towards Jersey City, Newark, and New York City.
