Share Info About Van Nest
Van Nest is located in the western half of the East Bronx, bordered on one side by the Zoo and the Bronx River Parkway, and by the neighborhood of Morris Park at the opposite end. Although a block of industry takes up a good chunk of the southeastern corner, this community is mainly residential, and a fairly good place to find affordable NY apartments. While the housing stock in this part of town is dominated by dissimilar rowhouses, you're bound to find available Van Nest apartments in some of the typical 5- and 6-story apartment buildings around town, or in the smaller, low-rise units scattered throughout the blocks. Considering the small size of the neighborhood, it is has pretty good accessibility when it comes to catching transit into Manhattan. In fact, both the numbers 2 and 5 trains run along the western border of town, serving the neighborhood at both the Bronx Park East and E 180 St Stations. However, these stations are within walking distance to only the western 80% of Van Nest apartments. But no need to cross this community off your rental-search list just yet--as there are a few other options to get you where you need to be. In fact, the BxM10 express bus runs right through the neighborhood, picking up passengers along Morris Park Avenue. Lucky for these residents, this bus line's express portion begins just beyond the neighborhood's limits. And although more than double the price of a typical fare, this express bus offers a far more comfortable ride, at about the same 40-minute ride as the train. The street where most of the local business takes place is undoubtedly Morris Park Avenue. Here, you'll find just about everything you need to satisfy your basic necessities. But for a larger shopping experience, one will need to travel out to a few of the outlying malls and other shopping centers. However, right in Van Nest are a few hidden treasures that seem to put this neighborhood on the map. Conti's Pastry Shoppe, for example, gets consistent raves from locals for its moist cakes and cannoli. So whether you're looking for a more affordable place to settle, or just leave the micro-sized spaces in Manhattan, be sure to look at some of the available (and affordable) Van Nest apartments.
