Living In: Soundview

Share Info About Soundview
Just north of Clason Point and Harding Park sits the residential neighborhood of Soundview. Here, there are several options when it comes to renting a NY apartment. First of all, this region is dominated by low-rise, semi-detached (and rather identical) rowhouses, as well as those 5- and 6-story tenement buildings that seem to flank much of the Bronx's southern section. But in this neighborhood, building diversity is just as varied as the housing stock. While some sections sport single-family homes and duplexes, there are always plenty of available Soundview apartments for rent. Although this community is far from a shopping mecca, there are a few stores scattered about town that satisfy most residents' basic needs--especially those lining Westchester Avenue. But for the more unique items and services, a trip out of Soundview will be in order. A few shopping centers are distributed near the outskirts of the neighborhood, and the area's local buses will take you crosstown in a flash. However, for those who rely on public transit to get to Manhattan, there are only a few options available. Soundview is a little too close to the city for an express bus service, but luckily, the number 6 train just brushes the northern end of town, stopping at Elder Av, Morrison Av-Soundview, and St Lawrence Av Stations (all along Westchester Avenue). While you might find this neighborhood a bit distant from the borough's largest greenspaces, like Pelham Bay Park or Van Cortlandt Park, Soundview makes up with a park of its own. Built on about 205 acres of marshland, this quasi-natural greenspace has been reclaimed form the Bronx River and transformed into a well-rounded local space. Soundview Park (appropriately named) features cycling and walking paths throughout, as well as a few sports fields, a playground, and incredible views of the Bronx River, Long Island Sound, and beyond. So if you're looking for an affordable, and fairly accessible neighborhood to rent your new place, definitely check out any available Soundview apartments. You're sure to find a size and price to fit your needs.
