In the winter months Scarsdale averages about 39 inches of snow a year. If you're a walker or runner you would love the scenic views in Greenburgh nature Center which is a 33 acre woodland preserve with trails, ponds, gardens and an amazing outdoor exhibits. For the active skiers or snowboarders which many Scarsdale residents are, you can drive a short distance north to Thunder Ridge Ski Mountain and Catamount Ski Mountain for a little more advanced rider. Those who heard of Scarsdale New York know of its unique cultural and economic prosperity and intellectual resources. Being so close to Manhattan is a huge attraction to families that want to be close to Manhattan but at the same time feel that they are far enough to enjoy the outdoor activities that Scarsdale brings. Worth Magazine has listed this town to be one of the richest towns in America. Because of the residents who average to have astronomical incomes. People move to Scarsdale New York solely based on Test Scores and its fond reputation for being affluent and wealthy. It all starts with a wide variety of schools in its district. There are 11 public schools in the area ranging from Pre-Kindergarten all the way through High School. Immaculate Heart Of Mary School, Heathcote School, Greenacres School, Edgewood School , Quaker Ridge School, Seely Place School, Greenvale School, Fox Meadow School, Greenville School, Scarsdale Middle School, Edgemont Junior-Senior High School and Scarsdale Senior High School. With roughly 360 High School Students almost 97% went on to a four year college. That percentage of students heading to college is the best in Westchester County. Besides schools, Scarsdale is unlike other towns, almost all people are members of some club or organization, and people who move to Scarsdale want that sense of community and pride.
