Share Info About Ridgewood
Ridgewood is a Queens neighborhood in the borough's southwest corner. Even though it shares its border with Brooklyn, this dense section of Queens is quite distinguishable from its Bushwick neighborhood. The community is also bordered by Maspeth to the north, Glendale to the east, and Middle Village to the northeast. Ridgewood apartments can be found in a large variety of housing, including brick apartment buildings, and single- to two-family rowhouses. The early 20th century housing stock has been protected in thirteen different sections, all registered as separate National Historic Districts. The main commercial strips for local shopping includes Myrtle Avenue and Fresh Pond Road. Smaller sections include Metropolitan Avenue, Forest Avenue, and Seneca Avenue. But when residents need to travel into Manhattan, they have easy access on the M & L trains. Several blocks of Ridgewood are tree-lined and remain completely untouched since the construction of the community's early 20th century townhouses. The use of brick is much more pronounced in Ridgewood homes, as opposed to the immense use of vinyl siding of Bushwick.
