Old Westbury Long Island New York, is a prosperous suburb named after a town in Wiltshire England, Old Westbury has a history of luxury and a prestigious Gold Coast address. It's twenty-five minutes from mid-town Manhattan, the renowned village of Old Westbury encompasses 8.6 square miles on Long Island's North Shore. Regularly ranked as one of the top ten wealthiest areas in the United States, Old Westbury is known for its old world charm and elegance. Large, private properties and breathtaking residences offer a retreat just outside of the hustle of New York City. Today, the village of Old Westbury is located in both the Town of Oyster Bay and the Town of North Hempstead. It's convenient to major roadways including the Long Island Expressway, Northern & Southern Parkway and Jericho Turnpike. Access in and out of Manhattan is also a breeze on the Long Island Rail Road where commuting by train into Manhattan is the most convenient way for many long Islanders. Residents would have to jump on the Port Jefferson Rail Road Line, the closest station is the Westbury train station stop, and the commute time would roughly be less than half an hour. What makes this community so unique is its beautiful collection of architecture and design style homes. Old Westbury's proximity to Manhattan and its stylish manor homes have long been an attraction for both television and film. Films as far back as Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest staring Cary Grant and television shows as recent as Gossip Girl have been filmed in this amazing town. Old Westbury is also home to many well-known actors, musicians and world known business professionals. Another major attraction to this town is the schools in its area. It's served by three school districts: Jericho Union Free School District; East Williston Union Free School District; and Westbury Union Free School District. In 2013 The Wheatley High School had an amazing High School Graduation rate of 100%. So it makes sense for affluent parents to move to this wealthy and educated community and set a great foundation for their children. Once you get to town there are plenty of attractions and places to go. The most notable destination is the Meadowbrook Polo Club. It's the oldest operating polo club in the United States. It was first established in the late 1800's and was home to the 94' US Open Polo Championship, which the Wanderers defeated the Meadowbrook Freebooters. Another icon in the community is the Old Westbury gardens. It's a glorious mansion with around 200 acres of formal gardens, landscaped ground, woodlands, ponds and lakes. It's listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Nearby is a well-known shopping outlet called The Gallery at Westbury Plaza. It has all of your shopping needs and is a trendy spot to go for kids and young adults. So if you can afford this wealthy lifestyle, Old Westbury would be the place to be.
