Share Info About Massapequa
Massapequa is a town that is on the most southern tip of Long Island. It sits right off the coast of South Oyster Bay and over looks Jones beach Island across the shore. The community is mostly a white collar town. With over 90% of the workforce is employed which is way above the average. Not just in the United States but within Long Island. This town is full of successful businessmen and women that have that intrinsic values of giving back to the community. They find great significance in giving back to the community which has given so much to them and their families. Many residents help by giving back to local stores, community fundraisers, schools, religious sanctions and so much more. This community is a great place for families to consider to settle down and grow their family here. With an desirable combination of great schools, low crime, college-educated neighbors who tend to support education because of their own experiences and an incredible rate of home ownership in mainly single-family properties, most property owners own a three bedroom home which are usually constructed as Cape Cod, Ranch and Colonial types of homes. This town really has some of the features that families look for when choosing a good place to raise children and develop a family. The community doesn't have an out of this world nightlife scene but enough for parents to enjoy a night out or two. With being so close to the water. Families have the luxury of walking a very short distance to the shore line to beaches and parks where kids can run around and play on the beaches and playgrounds. In the summer time, families who are willing to take a short drive out to Jones Beach Island can do so. There are so many family activities that you can do at Jones Beach like take gorgeous walks, swimming, fishing, sailing, kayaking, music concerts, shows, good restaurants and more. So when the kids aren't playing around they are attending one of Long Island best school districts. Massapequa has a total of six elementary schools that have students attend from Kindergarten all the way through sixth grade. After many students will attend Berner Middle School and then to Massapequa High School. On Monday, October 30, 2012, Superstorm Sandy damaged much of Massapequa, especially south of Merrick Road where flood waters rose. Schools were closed for several days and many residents remained without power for days after the storm because of uprooted trees and downed power lines. From this time the community has done much for the families affected and the town remains an attractive place to live.
