Living In: Laconia

Share Info About Laconia
Situated within the larger area of Allerton, the community named Laconia is a residential section of the Bronx. Here, you'll find several blocks of the typical, brick rowhouse, as well as sections with duplexes, quadraplexes, and a handful of scattered single-family homes. Laconia offers fairly affordable rents, and with much more space than other NY apartments. And although it doesn't offer the quickest commute into the city, Laconia apartments are for those who appreciate simple living in the outer boroughs. While the Dyre Av term subway tracks act as Laconia's eastern border, it's also the main subway line serving the neighborhood. And although there are two stations in Laconia, a fairly large chunk of the neighborhood remains beyond a walkable distance. Though for a more comfortable trip to Manhattan, residents have the choice of riding the BxM10 express bus, which travels along Eastchester Road. Although a more expensive fare, the express bus is a more direct route to the city with fewer stops and a smoother ride. This neighborhood is smack dab in the middle of the Bronx's most respected greenspaces. Within a mile and a half in every direction is one of the borough's notable parks including Van Cortlandt, Pelham Bay, and Seton Falls Park. And although not necessarily a park, the New York Botanical Garden is fewer than fifteen blocks from the western border of Laconia, and provides visitors with some of the city's most spectacular scenery. While Pelham Bay Park is the largest in the city, and Van Cortlandt Park displays a vast amount of forest, few recognize Seton Falls Park in nearby Edenwald. This small space is one of the last remaining urban oases in the City, and still maintains its natural and relaxing charm. Although this neighborhood is on the border between urban and suburban, it is a great place to find an affordable place to live. And whether the space is to raise a family or live on your own, moving into Laconia apartments is a safe, low-rent option.
