Share Info About Boerum Hill
Brooklyn's Boerum Hill, sometimes seen as a scruffy extension of adjoining Cobble Hill, is remarkably diverse in character for such a small neighborhood. Much of the NY apartments for rent in Boerum Hill are located within the 19th-century rowhouses and brownstones that have been transformed over the past few decades from decaying rooming houses on crime-ridden streets, into pretty and well-maintained homes on safe, quiet blocks. In other parts of the neighborhood, notably near bustling Alantic Avenue, mid-rise brick apartment buildings and contemporary towers are more the rule. Boerum Hill apartments are located within some relatively elastic boundaries. However, most people agree that the neighborhood is defined by State Street to the north (and Downtown Brooklyn), Fourth Avenue to the east (and Park Slope), Court Street to the west (and Cobble Hill), and Warren Street to the south (and Gowanus).
Boerum Hill commuters to Manhattan enjoy subway accessibility within walking distance, with the F train right in the heart of the neighborhood, and a major hub at Atlantic Avenue/Pacific Street (where the D, M, N, R, 2, 3, 4, 5, B, and Q all stop) at the eastern edge. All Boerum Hill apartments are located near several vibrant commercial corridors. Atlantic Avenue is definitely used as a through-way for many, but there are also a surprising number of local shops here too. A stretch of Smith Street, Brooklyn's "restaurant row", is also located within Boerum Hill, and a number of quirky, independent shops and café's have sprung up on Fourth Avenue in recent years.
