Share Info About Bay Terrace
Bay Terrace is a small neighborhood in Staten Island, NY, located adjacent to Great Kills Park. The neighborhood is the southernmost point of the East Shore. It takes it's name from a street that bisects the neighborhood and is considered the area's main thoroughfare. The immediate area was mostly undeveloped until the late 1950's, when a number of single family homes were constructed. In recent years, commercial development has begun to compliment the residential buildings. A large shopping center was opened, bringing much needed retail shops to the neighborhood. Bay Terrace has a stop on the Staten Island Railway. Bus service is also available along Hylan Boulevard. Both local and express buses to Manhattan transport residents to their destinations. Ocean View Burial Park (cemetery) is partially located in Bay Terrace. It has been in existence for over 100 years, and is the resting place for close to 50,000 poeple. The older grounds with mature landscaping are quite beautiful, and very much a park-like setting.
