Arden Heights is an upper middle class neighborhood located in the western part of Annadale which is found on the South Shore of Staten Island, NY. It is home to over 60,000 residents with more than half the population living in a family household. Its southern border is Huguenot while the Arthur Kill is on the west and the Fresh Kills to the north. Living in Arden Heights, particularly The Village Greens, is an unique experience and for the most part a traffic-free environment on the congested Island in New York. Most importantly the area has a below average total crime risk. A majority of the properties in Arden Heights are owned while only some are rented. The townhouses in addition to the numerous single-family homes here are a popular attraction because of the environment. The Rolling Hill Green are found nearby and offer great recreational facilities. A shopping center is conveniently found nearby the Village Greens as well as an exceptional, highly rated New York City public elementary school known as Mae E Reynolds School. The most attractive amenity of the Village Greens is the 16 acre park of green grass and two Olympic-sized swimming pools! A mile north of the Village Greens is the Aspen Knolls community located next to the St. John Neumann Church. With a long history of development, the neighborhood now consists of one, two and three bedroom homes as well as a community center and playing fields. Since 1985, the Huguenot Park Branch Library, operated by the New York Public Library has served Arden Heights as well as many nearby neighborhoods. Arden Heights has a higher percentage of people with a Bachelor's Degree than New York City and nearby Richmond County. There are an array of private school options nearby. The public schools that serve the children of Arden Heights include Public 4 Maurice Wollin and IS 7 Frank D. Paulo. IS 7 is a very large school with a student to teacher ratio of 16:1 with almost 1,500 total students. It offers grades six to eight. Maurice Wollin offers Pre-K to fifth grade and has nearly 800 students enrolled. It is also a very large public elementary school. Arden Heights has many public transportation options including the S74/84 local buses along Arthur Kill Road, the S56 along Arden Avenue and Arthur Kill Road, and the S55 along Annadale Road. The express buses to Manhattan are also great options to get into the City. These include the X17 and X19 along Arden Avenue and Arthur Kill Road, and the X23 along Woodrow Road and Arthur Kill Road. Although Arden Heights doesn’t have a station on the Staten Island Railway, it can be reached at the Annadale station using the S55 bus. Nearly 75% of the work force in Arden Heights drives or carpools to work.
